Solutions Center
OVERVIEW
Focused on research and development, the new Solution Center at Tessy Automation brings together cutting-edge technology and provides a powerful environment for engineers to design/prototype new ideas and execute proof of concepts.
Flexible Feeding Systems
As Vision guided robotics advances, keeping equipment in house to test products is essential. Tessy Automation has an ARS FB500 flexible feeder with integrated Vision and a Bulk Feeder Hopper. This system is within reach of our robot chassis, which can be integrated to pick parts off the rotating plate of the flexible feeder. We are also equipped with several different surface textures designed to accommodate a wide variety of part geometries and materials. With this technology in house, testing becomes a matter of hours instead of weeks. Engineers can now test how parts feed, sit on the feed surface, and how our vision system processes them without waiting weeks for results.
3D Printing
Rapid prototyping allows for same day tooling to be made for robotic EOATs and nesting for parts. While not as precise as machined metal, this fast manufacturing enables engineers to improve testing times and move forward with results quicker. The large 10”x10”x10” build volume is able to keep up with most nest, EOAT, or bracket prototyping.
PLC Station
Testing potential control methods of new devices is critical to keeping costs and timelines down when designing new systems. We have both compact and control Logix processors on hand for testing integration and control methods of new devices. The available equipment for testing extends beyond controllers, to remote Input and output modules as well as variable frequency and servo drives.
Prototype Ready
In addition to state-of-the-art technology, the Solution Center is also equipped hundreds of small mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic devices from suppliers such as Festo, SMC, and Keyence. This gives our engineers different options when testing automation systems. Shown here is an integration example using the following equipment.
- Epson Robot
- Festo Pneumatic Slides
- Keyence Camera and sensors
- 3D Printed EOAT
- SMC Vacuum cups
- Custom machined aluminum and steel parts.
Conclusion
The Tessy Automation Solution Center is a major advancement in our continuous improvement efforts. Having such a vast supply of prototype equipment at our fingertips allows for rapid prototyping and design adjustment before actual manufacturing.
Our PLC Station, robots, and vision systems allow our controls engineers to get a jump on the equipment before it gets assembled. Finally, the 3D printer allows us to rapidly get mounting equipment and nests put together for testing which saves cost and time during the design.
