Applications Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY


Facilitate the development of automated equipment proposals that utilize acceptable engineering
concepts to meet customer requirements and include complete contractual terms and specifications, as
well as collaborate, review and negotiate proposals with clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Liaison:

  • Communicate with customers to determine their needs and requirements for specific proposals.
  • Develop required machine specifications and performance criteria.
  • Facilitate internal review and team brainstorming or automated equipment solutions that meet customer specifications.

Concept Engineering:

  • Confer with engineering and controls personnel as well as key vendors to develop sound equipment concepts including personal research.
  • Prepare technical write ups of proposed machine designs.

Proposal Costing:

  • Facilitate and contribute to estimating costs and budgets for equipment proposals.
  • Prepare dynamic technical and commercial sales proposals.
  • Create project Gantt charts for equipment proposals as required.
  • Make proposal presentations to clients.
  • Steward and nurture customer contacts to grow key client relationships.
  • Negotiate contractual requirements and close sales with customers.
  • Assist in prioritizing and qualifying quote inquiries, along with regularly communicating status to customers.

General:

  • Communicate concepts and specifications to engineering and project managers for successful implementation and execution.
  • As requested, periodically review and guide technical design and commercial aspects of active projects, supporting as needed in a team environment.
  • As needed, occasionally give technical guidance during design, debug and groom phase of equipment.
  • Understand, execute, and work to improve applicable processes, including those related to the Quality Management System.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Technical-based associate degree
  • At least 5 years’ experience with sales or design of custom manufactured equipment
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 Experience

REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • For up to 12 hours, sit, stand, walk on shop floor
  • Push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor
  • Exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
  • Exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or
  • Exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical-based bachelor or higher degree
  • 15 to 20 years of experience with sales of custom manufactured equipment
  • Thorough understanding of project costing techniques and financial justifications
  • Experience with technical and commercial writing of proposals and negotiating contracts
  • CAD Skills

IMPORTANT
